Salty Dog props

I have a '72 28' Salty Dog with twin 318's. The props are pitted and damaged according to the hull cleaners. I am going to dive and check them out. What should I look for? Sounds like I'll be replacing them. Any advice would be helpfull. Can this be done in the water?
