: has anyone resolved the topside blister problem. I have a 1980 48' in Florida.

Russ,
I just completed a very unsatisfying experience trying to do just that, and have discovered a few things that may be of interest to you. First, there is a way, but it requires complete, yes complete removal of the gelcoat, washing and drying out the entire bare fiberglass surface, grinding out and repairing each identifiable blister, reskinning the entire surface with fiberglass mat (double layer 1 oz) and finally, refinishing with fairing, paint or gel. The reason I know this is that in the areas that we repaired only the blisters we found, others have returned with passion in less than 6 months. I am north of the Tampa Bay area, and the sun causes the uncured resin to migrate around the good repairs and pop out elsewhere. The areas that we removed the gelcoat, repaired and reskinned (we only did the areas that "looked" as if that was necessary) seem to be permanently fixed...time will tell. If I had it to do again, I would not have tried to judge the severity, I would have reskinned the whole thing right from the start. Hindsight is 20/20.
On the other hand, there is no doubt that it is a worthwhile project, Uniflites are great boats (even though nobody know what one is in Florida!!!
Best luck!
