: I have 250 hp 8.2 Detroits and I would like to know the correct prop size the boat should have on it. Currently at 2650 to 2725 RPM it will do 13.5 knots to 15.0 knots, the problem is when I checked the props the last time the boat was out of the water I found that it had one of each on at the time. I have two props 26/23 and two 26/24. Which ones should I be going to? Thanks for any input.
Ray, We have the same engines in our 84 42' aft cabin.
After living with them for the last 6 years we are familar with them. It is very important to not over load them - you should/must be able to reach 3200 rpm at full throttle. Otherwise you are overpropped/overloaded. You may want to join "boatdiesel.com" ($25/year) to access the archives yhey have on these engines.
Our experience with them has been mostly good, they start quickly, minimal smoking,no soot on transom and good fuel economy.
Les.
